National Post
In 2001, the National Post was purchased by Canwest Global Communications Corp. and today is one of two national daily newspapers delivering comprehensive news, unique comment and in-depth business reporting from across the country and around the world, all with a distinctly Canadian voice. With weekly readership numbers of over 1.4 million, the Post is known for its upfront, vibrant personality and high-quality journalism. In November 2007, National Post established a new online presence, re-launching its web sites at nationalpost.com and financialpost.com. These sites operate from a newsroom fully integrated to produce content for both print and online platforms, the sites focus on delivering breaking news, commentary, financial tools, multimedia including dynamic videos, photo galleries and audio presentations, and community. The Post also distributes its news on a mobile platform and provides journalists with an immediate publishing platform through NP Network Blogs (nationalpost.com/np_network). |

Launched in 1998, the National Post was built around the existing Financial Post, an established business-oriented newspaper in Toronto which was purchased from Sun Media in 1997. (Financial Post was retained as the name of the new paper's business section.)
